The BiblioBroads Book Club

I finished Blind Assassin last night. I can now officially say that I have read something by Margaret Atwood! The book was okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It will be interesting to see what all of you thought of it. I think her editor must have been on vacation because I found that in some parts of the book it went on and on. Also, I wished she had described in more detail Iris' relationship with her daughter Aimee. She sort of summed it up in a few sentences here and there. I guess Atwood felt she was not a key player in the story. I think this book will definitely cause some great discussion amongst us. I am glad I read the story and I wouldn't have picked it up to read if not for the book club. I think Atwood is a tad overrated as a writer. Don't get me wrong, she does write well, but I felt she sometimes went off on tangents that I felt had no real significance in the story. Also her storyline was not the most original. I must say that I enjoyed Geek Love more. Anxious to hear what all of you thought. Looking forward to reading Tiger Eyes!

Is this the "Tiger Eyes" you were looking for, Amy?

This was the version of the book that I had too and I loved it. I thought she was the most beautiful girl ever. I mean, look at that hair!

The only thing I remember about this book is that her Dad has just died and as a result she sleeps with a bread knife under her pillow...and something to do with the Grand Canyon? I just hope it's not filled with tween angst and drivel.

Only one way to find out, I guess...

Yo broads,

Yes, it's that time again. Meet-up number two! I have had a little trouble figuring out what is happening on Sunday but never fear, BiblioBroads are still a go for this Sunday. I haven't been able to confirm where, but if all else fails we'll just go back to the Whip.

Stay tuned for updates!

Geek Love or Freak Love? I finished the book and it certainly was a book I could not put down. It was kind of creepy in some parts. Like I told Mata Hari, " you know when you pass by a horrible car accident on the road, and even though you feel you shouldn't look at the wreakage, you still look?" This is how this book made me feel. Even though at times I felt I shouldn't finish it, it was written in such a way that made me want to finish it just to see how it would end. It was definitely an easy read and a real page turner!

Looking at my notes from our last meeting, it appears we are supposed to meet on Sunday, March 12th to discuss. Is this still a go? I can hardly wait to see which book we choose next and what direction that story will take!

Looking forward to seeing you all again and discussing the book. I am sure it will be a great discussion!
